Jennifer Doering

Jennifer Doering, PhD, RN is department chair and an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her research seeks to promote health equity in women and infants. She works towards this goal through the study of the relationships between perinatal mental health, maternal and infant sleep, and infant mortality. She has a special interest in consumer products, product development, and manufacturing related to infant sleep safety.

Air Mattresses and Infant Deaths

Air mattresses are increasingly seen as an affordable and transportable sleep surface. However, there were 108 cases of infant death between 2004 and 2015 involving air mattresses, and this figure may be vastly underreported.
